Rope Pull Toys

Submited Jan 16, 2010

Rope pull toys are good for your dog in a number of ways.  As a throw toy, the rope pull toy utilizes his instinct for retrieving to give him a good workout.  His jaws and teeth are strengthened and cleaned as he chews.  His social skills grow when he plays with you.  And his brain gets a workout as he tries to figure out how to tear it up.  And he WILL try to tear it up.  Okay, eventually he will tear it up.  What you need is one that will challenge him for a long time.

Here’s the most interesting of the rope toys that we’ve investigated.  It’s a combo ball/rope toy.  Of course, it’s brightly colored to make it easy for the owners to find in tall grass.  The "arms" that extend from the ball make it fly irregularly when thrown.  It has enough weight to carry well without going too far.  and it’s easy for our big dog to grab in the air and the little one to drag around by a rope.  It has lasted well and stands up to water.  It is sturdy and easy to play with.  Of all of our rope pull toys, this one is the biggest hit.

Kong Dog Biscuit Ball

Submited Jan 2, 2010

The Kong Dog Biscuit Ball is a twist on the standard Kong toy.  Check out the Kong post for a review of that one.  Anyway, we like this toy because it is much easier to stuff.  You just cram dog biscuits into the openings.  It’s not all that hard for the dogs to get the biscuits out, but it takes a little time.  There is the added benefit of increasing the chew time on the biscuits — they have to chew instead of just swallowing them whole.  The ball itself is sturdy and holds up well.  The Kong Dog Biscuit Ball is one tough dog chew toy.
